LIFEWTR School Beautification project featuring GAIA, Megan Lewis, Ernest Shaw, and Nether
LIFEWTR brought a school beautification project to Baltimore City featuring local artists GAIA, Megan Lewis, Ernest Shaw, and Nether. LIFEWTR is an advocate for the arts in schools across the United States and has committed itself to school and community beautification projects, #CanvasForChange. Throughout the country there has been a lack of arts education in schools, which has only gotten worse over the years. According to LIFEWTR, “new research shows we are heading toward a creativity crisis in schools – 91% of American parents agree that arts education is important to teach children to think outside the box, yet 4 in 5 people say that arts education is not being offered as much as it once was”.
Benjamin Franklin Middle School, High School, and PS 239 (all three are at the same location) were chosen by LIFEWTR as the location for the school beautification project. Benjamin Franklin Middle School, High School, and PS 239 are located in the Curtis Bay and Brooklyn communities of South Baltimore on 1201 Cambria St.
